Follow-up Report – RDM Workshop in Essen

From June 14-16, 2023, the Coscine team participated in the RDM workshop hosted by Landesinitiative fdm.nrw in Essen. The RDM workshop offered the opportunity to try out different tools, including Coscine. In different sessions, special functions of the individual tools were presented, which could be tried out by the participants during or afterwards. In addition, the workshop was an optimal opportunity to exchange information about the respective tools and to network. (*)

We continue with the follow-up report on the afternoon program of the Research Data Day 2022 held at the RWTH Aachen University. Just as last year, researchers from all over North Rhine-Westphalia were allowed to get a taste of the Coscine workshop and ask their questions about the platform for research data management. On November 15, 2022 the Research Data Day in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) will be held for the second time. This time, the motto of the event is “Lighthouse RDM: Orientation in the data sea“.
On this day, events on research data management (RDM) will be held throughout NRW and various universities will present their RDM offerings. The complete programme can be found on the website of the State Initiative for Research Data Management – fdm.nrw.
Was the Switch to Digital Successful? – A Stocktaking

The breakout of the corona pandemic has presented us with new challenges not only in our private and professional lives, but also in the organisation and the conduct of teaching and research. There was a considerable, albeit unplanned surge in digitalisation. The RDM Team at RWTH Aachen University also had to adapt and make adjustments, especially with regard to events and workshops. Meanwhile, two years have passed and it is time to take stock. Was the changeover successful?
Follow-up Report on the Open Meeting of the RDM Network on January 12, 2022

On January 12, 2022, the first open meeting of the RDM network took place online via Zoom this year. The aim of these gatherings is to enable an exchange of frequently asked questions and best practices from RDM and to build a coordinated network at RWTH Aachen University. This time, the RDM team, together with the data stewards, RDM officers and RDM interested parties at RWTH, took a closer look at how the Research Data Management Organiser (RDMO) works.
