Networking in Action: Highlights of the RDM Network Meeting
The first RDM Network Meeting in the new “Practical Special” format took place on May 22, 2025, in the University Library of RWTH Aachen University. The active RDM community at RWTH, comprising data stewards and other individuals involved in RDM, met in an informal setting to share insights on the latest challenges in Research Data Management, present project updates, and discuss recent developments at RWTH with the RDM team.
RDM Network Meeting in April 2025 – Focus on AI Support in Research
On April 24, 2025, the RDM Network Meeting took place in a new format. On this day, the RDM community at RWTH Aachen University gathered online for a Topic Special on “AI Support in Research.” The two experts Lena Nietzschmann from the RWTH Aachen University Library and Soo-Yon Kim from the Chair of Computer Science 5 (Information Systems & Databases) gave exciting presentations on the latest developments in literature research and data annotation in scientific research.

We also share the highlights of our Data Stewards and network members that they experienced during the E-Science Days 2025 in Heidelberg.

In this article, we would like to reflect on our first Meeting of the RDM Network in the new year at RWTH Aachen University. It took place on January 15, 2025 and was entitled “Further development of the RDM network and an update of the central RDM services”.
Reflections on the Open Science Festival 2024 in Mainz
Three data stewards from the technical training and consulting group N. Parks, K. Dukkart and C. Gonzalez of the Research Process and Data Management (RPDM) Department recently had the opportunity to attend the third annual Open Science Festival held at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, an event dedicated to exploring the principles and practices of Open Science.
As in the previous year, the festival brought together a diverse group of participants—from students and researchers to decision-makers and Research Data Management (RDM) professionals under the inspiring motto: “Meet, Share, Inspire, Care”.
This Was the Data Stewardship Goes Germany Workshop 2024
This year’s TU9 workshop for data stewards took place from September 11 to 12, 2024 at RWTH Aachen University. The two-day workshop provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on research data management in science and technology, with a particular focus on the role of data stewards. In this article we look back on two successful and instructive days.
Open Meeting of the RDM Network in June 2024

On June 12, 2024, the open meeting of the RDM network at RWTH Aachen University on the topic of “Publication – Open Access and Data Publication” took place online via Zoom again. After the last RDM network meeting, which took place as a face-to-face event at the University Library of RWTH Aachen University, the RDM team of RWTH Data Stewards invited doctoral students, postdocs and those interested in RDM to the virtual open meeting of the RDM.

Data Stewardship goes Germany 2024
This year’s Data Stewardship goes Germany (DSgG) workshop will take place at RWTH Aachen University on September 11 and 12, 2024. After Braunschweig and Dresden, this year’s workshop, organized by the Research Data Management working group at TU9, will take place in the imperial city of Aachen. Submit your contribution by June 10, 2024 and secure one of the coveted places.
