Data Champions at the RWTH: Carolin Victoria Schneider
This article is part of our series “Data Champions at RWTH”. Data Champions are researchers or employees who have excelled in the field of research data management (RDM) and/or have experience that is groundbreaking for colleagues or can serve as a guide.
Our first Data Champion is Prof. Dr. med. Carolin Victoria Schneider. She works at RWTH University Hospital and was named Young Scientist of the Year 2023 by academics. We spoke to Ms. Schneider about her connection to and interest in Research Data Management.
RDM in Small Research Projects
The question of the right research data management (RDM) arises above all for researchers who are still at the beginning of their careers, but also for students who are already taking on smaller research projects. Since they have had little to no contact with RDM to that point, it is unclear to many how research data can be made usable in the long term. Recommendations for RDM in smaller projects can now be found in a new handout by the German Data Forum (RatSWD), part of the Consortium for the Social, Behavioural, Educational and Economic Sciences (KonsortSWD). A set of slides for university teachers was also published together with the handout.
Data.rwth Teaching Competition – Designing Teaching Materials for Data Literacy
Teaching data literacy to students – this is what the team of the data.RWTH data literacy project is working on. In the data.RWTH teaching competition, all RWTH members now have the chance to actively shape the basic data literacy modules by producing teaching videos as well as exercise and examination materials, and at the same time receive an attractive grant of eight times 10,000€. You still have until March 15, 2022 to apply! In this blog post, you will learn the most important facts in brief.
