Workshop on the Management of Research Data (RDM II-Compact)
Research data management (RDM) is an essential part of modern science and research. In order to optimally prepare researchers at RWTH Aachen University for the challenges of handling research data, we offer the RDM II compact workshop once a year. This one-day hands-on workshop takes place on site at the University Library and is aimed at anyone who would like to deepen their knowledge of research data management.

Effective Data Sharing with Coscine – Part 1
Are you currently working on a large research project and using Coscine? Are you already in the final stages and would like to share the data with other colleagues who are not involved in the project? At this point, you are faced with numerous options regarding your research data. In this blog series, we would like to introduce you to some of the most common methods you can use to make your data accessible to people outside of Coscine. (*)
Mastering RDM – Learning Opportunities at the RWTH
In complex research processes, it is crucial to maintain an overview of research data and develop effective data management strategies. In addition to RDM tools and services, RWTH Aachen University therefore also offers its researchers courses and workshops on research data management (RDM) in order to develop skills in this important area.
The RDM team relies on blended learning, which combines traditional classroom teaching with digital learning methods. The basics are taught in year-round RWTHmoodle courses, which can be completed at any time and at your own pace through self-study. Building on this, what has been learned can be tested, discussed and deepened in regular workshops. In this blog post, you can get an overview of the RWTH’s RDM continuing education offers.
Coscine.nrw – A Milestone for Collaboration in Academia
Progressive development in the research sector requires not only change, but also efficient cooperation between universities. In this striving for innovation and transparency, the pioneering project Coscine.nrw has taken on a crucial role for the 42 educational institutions in the DH.nrw network. In this blog post, you can find out what this project is all about and how the collaboration is supposed to work.
Was the Switch to Digital Successful? – A Stocktaking
The breakout of the corona pandemic has presented us with new challenges not only in our private and professional lives, but also in the organisation and the conduct of teaching and research. There was a considerable, albeit unplanned surge in digitalisation. The RDM Team at RWTH Aachen University also had to adapt and make adjustments, especially with regard to events and workshops. Meanwhile, two years have passed and it is time to take stock. Was the changeover successful?
Follow-up Report on the Open Meeting of the RDM Network on April 13, 2022
On April 13, 2022, the data stewards, RDM managers and those interested in RDM at RWTH Aachen University met again for the regular open meeting of the Research Data Management (RDM) network online via Zoom. This time there were two exciting topics: an introduction to the KNIME software and the long-awaited presentation on the dependency analysis of research data at the IoP using GitLab.
