As a master student in metallurgical engineering program, I have been working with the NanoMat group in IEHK for my mini thesis on the topic of microalloyed medium-Mn steels. The study includes atom probe analysis which enables us to have a detailed understanding about the effect of microalloying addition on the partitioning behaviour of the elements and the characteristics of nano-sized precipitates in the medium-Mn steels. During the study, I had the chance to spend a lot of time in the laboratory and actually participated in the work. The collaborative atmosphere and the devotion in the institute helped me to learn conducting an organized and methodical research study, which was my primary goal when started working at IEHK, especially when considering that there is still much to discover about the steel despite its long history.
