On Tuesday, March 24, it was that time of year again: our annual company event was on the agenda—a day that once again demonstrated just how valuable team spirit, personal interaction, and shared experiences are in our daily work lives.
With around 120 participants, we set off on a varied program combining technology, physical activity, and time spent together.
A Look Behind the Scenes at RWTH
The day began with several exciting institute tours. The diversity of the facilities we visited impressively demonstrated the broad spectrum of research and development at RWTH.
Among others, our groups had the opportunity to explore the following institutes and facilities:
- ecurieaix
- WSA – Chair of Heat and Masstransfer
- IT Center – Utility Tunnel beneath WW10 on the Melaten Campus
- HKW Melaten – Melaten Combined Heat and Power Plant
- New ISEA Building – Institute for Power Electronics and Electric Drives
- MMP – Mechatronics in Mobile Propulsion
- Machine Hall WZL – Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering
- IKA – Institute for Automotive Engineering
- IWW – Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management
The tours offered exciting insights into current research, impressive facilities, and innovative technologies—ranging from energy and utility systems to automotive engineering, water management, and modern production technology.
Rally Across Aachen
After the tours, an exciting rally through Aachen was on the agenda. In small teams, participants followed in the footsteps of Professor Byte, a visionary developer whose scattered clues stretched across the city, from station to station, past some of the city’s most famous landmarks. At the checkpoints, tasks awaited that he had left for the participants.
The stops included, among others:
- the Königshügel sports complex
- the historic Kármántor
- the traditional Ponttor
- the main building of RWTH Aachen University
- as well as a visit to the famous Lindt Easter Bunny at the Lindt factory
The rally not only offered the opportunity to discover the city from a new perspective but also led to many creative solutions, team coordination, and, of course, plenty of fun.
Wrapping up Together Over Lunch
After an eventful morning, the company outing came to a cozy conclusion with a group lunch at a restaurant. In a relaxed atmosphere, participants were able to share their impressions of the day, make new connections, and deepen existing ones.
Thank You for the Organization
A big thank you goes to our management and the party team for the excellent organization of this day. With great dedication, they put together a varied program that combined both professional insights and shared experiences.
We’re already looking forward to the next company event!
