The University Library (UB) of RWTH Aachen University is changing its systems. This will change a lot in the background, but not much for you as users.
Why are we telling you this?
From August 2022, you will be able to log in to the university library using RWTH Single Sign-On.
The advantage for you?
You will have to remember one password less 🙂
New: Access via RWTH Single Sign-On
You didn’t know that you can set the password for your university library account via IdM Selfservice?
No problem! You don’t need to store this information in your long-term memory. Because: At the end of July the university library account will be changed. This means that it will no longer be possible to set a new password from July 22, 2022.
The account will not disappear then, but it will simply no longer carry a password. You will then be able to access the services of the UB via RWTH Single Sign-On.
Very important:
You do not have to do anything! The change of the account will be done automatically.
From August 1, 2022 you will simply log in to the UB via RWTH Single Sign-On. You can continue to use your library card – it will not be affected by the changeover.
Information for RWTH-external users
You are currently not a member of RWTH, but still use the university library as an external user?
Then you will also log in via RWTH Single Sign-On from August 2022.
In order to be able to use this login procedure, you must first be included in the RWTH Identity Management. For this purpose, you will be sent a coupon code when you register as an external user. Redeem this coupon code and you will receive a user name in the form ab123456.
After that you only have to create the account “UB External Library User” and you are ready to go!
People who are already registered as external users of the UB have been informed by their colleagues in advance by e-mail. If you are already using the services of the UB as an external user and have questions about this procedure, please contact the colleagues at the UB directly.
If you have any questions regarding the RWTH Single Sign-On, the team of the IT-ServiceDesk will be happy to help you.
