Doing a vocational training at a university? How can that be done? Quite simply! Even though a university is often associated with a study program, you still have the opportunity to complete vocational trainings at the various central offices, institutes and chairs. And this is also the case here at the IT Center.
In this next article of our blog series on the vocational training program for management assistants in dialogue marketing – DiMa for short – we will introduce you to the application process. If you are interested in an apprenticeship or know someone who is, it’s worth reading on and keeping an eye on all the other posts in this blog series.
The Classical Way
Basically, you have two ways to submit your application: by mail or online. It is important to know that you apply centrally at RWTH Aachen University, even if you are aiming for the training at the IT Center. Besides the Uniklinikum Aachen, which follows a separate process, you can complete the DiMa training RWTH-wide exclusively at our IT Center.
An application requires the following minimum documents:
- a letter of application,
- a CV (without a photo)
- copies of the last two school reports.
Additional certificates, internship certificates, or other documents can be submitted as well.
For the postal way you have to send your documents to the following address:
RWTH Aachen
Abteilung 8.4
52056 Aachen
You do not need a folder or an application portfolio.
Convenient and Modern: Online Application
If you choose the online option, the first thing you need to do is register on the online application portal. Once you have registered, you will receive an e-mail with a reference code, a direct link to the application pages, and further information on the application process. You now have seven days to submit your complete application. After that, your login will no longer be valid.
You can log in to the online application portal using the reference code or the direct link and enter your application data and upload documents. You can upload a maximum of five PDF files, each no larger than five megabytes. Once your application is complete, you can submit it by clicking the “Submit” button. You will then receive a confirmation of receipt. If you have forgotten a document, you can still submit it three weeks after receipt of your application in person, by mail, or by e-mail to ausbildung@zhv.rwth-aachen.de.
Procedure of the Selection Process
The selection process starts automatically as soon as the application documents have been received. The decisive selection criteria are the quality of your application documents, your grades, other previous knowledge, and the result of the aptitude test and the interview.
Necessary, but Not Too Bad: The Aptitude Test
The aptitude test that you have to take for training as a management assistant in dialogue marketing tests your suitability for this vocational training. You must pass the test with a score of at least 50 percent in order to continue in the application process. But do not worry: You can also prepare yourself with the help of a sample test. You can take this test as often as you like.
You will automatically receive an invitation to the aptitude test after your application has been received by RWTH Aachen University. Two to three weeks after the test you will receive a letter informing you of your result. The selection process for the DiMa training at the IT Center starts after the evaluation of the aptitude test.
Acceptance and Employment
If you have convinced us so far, we will invite you to an interview. We will inform you about the result of the interview as soon as possible. If the decision is positive on our part and yours, we will apply for your employment with the personnel department.
If you need additional information, please have a look at the website of RWTH Aachen University under Applying for a Vocational Training Spot, Online Application Process and Application and Selection Process.
The application deadline is May 31, 2023, but please note that for online applications, the deadline is May 24, 2023. After that date, logging into the online application portal will no longer work for technical reasons. The earlier you submit your application, the higher your chance of being offered a training spot.
If you have any questions about the application process, please contact Division 8.4 – Vocational Training.
We wish all interested persons good luck with their application!
