On September 9, 2024, this year’s certificate ceremony of the Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) for MATSE graduates took place at the RWTH Aachen guesthouse. 39 out of a total of 75 graduates participated in this significant event, where their achievements were celebrated. During the formal ceremony, the young professionals received their certificates for successfully completing the MATSE program.

The MATSE program at a glance

The MATSE program at RWTH combines hands-on training in mathematical-technical software development with a bachelor’s degree in “Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.” Graduates of this dual program are well-prepared for the demands of the workforce, thanks to close collaboration with regional companies. Their skills are in high demand, particularly in times of digitalization. MATSE graduates are equipped to develop complex mathematical models and implement them into software solutions—highly sought-after skills in the IT and technology sectors.

An important aspect of the MATSE program is the strong integration of theory and practice. During their studies, graduates worked at IT companies or research institutions, allowing them to directly apply their theoretical knowledge in practice. This not only enhances their professional qualifications but also opens doors to successful careers in industry or academia.

The certificate ceremony

After the graduates arrived, accompanied by their trainers or family members, the event began at 3:00 PM. The guests were welcomed by Benno Wienke, the MATSE training manager at the IT Center of RWTH Aachen. Other speakers included Prof. Dr. Philipp Rohde from FH Aachen, Manuela Kemper, head of department 8.4 for training at RWTH, Patrick Blaneck from the RWTH Youth and Trainee Council, MATSE class representative Cécile Potschernik, and Michael Arth from the Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The formal certificate presentation began at 3:30 PM, during which Benno Wienke and Michael Arth congratulated the successful graduates and handed them their certificates. At 4:00 PM, a social gathering took place, providing all guests with an opportunity to connect and exchange ideas.

The 2024 IHK certificate ceremony not only marks the end of an intensive training period but also the beginning of a promising career for the new MATSE professionals. They are ready to actively shape the future of the technology sector and contribute to the digital transformation.
