Aachen is becoming a hub for the digital future of higher education: From September 7 to 10, 2026, the 27th DINI Annual Conference and ZKI Fall Conference will take place under the theme “From Campus to Cloud – Confidently Connected” at the C.A.R.L. at RWTH Aachen University.
We are particularly pleased to help organize the conference as a co-host alongside the RWTH University Library and to welcome numerous experts from universities, research institutions, and the IT sector here in Aachen.
This joint conference brings together two important networks in the higher education and research landscape: DINI (German Initiative for Network Information, e. V.) promotes the further development of digital information and communication infrastructures and advocates for exchange, collaboration, and common standards and recommendations. The ZKI (Centers for Communication and Information Processing in Teaching and Research e. V.) connects central IT service centers at universities and research institutions, promotes the exchange of experiences, and represents their interests vis-à-vis policymakers, associations, and the public.
The countdown is on!
Over these four days, participants can look forward to a varied program centered on the digital transformation of universities and research institutions. Key topics include digital sovereignty, cloud and sourcing strategies, open source, artificial intelligence, identity management, data protection, and open access. But concrete questions from everyday university life will also be addressed, such as the design of modern learning spaces and digital infrastructure in lecture halls.
In addition to exciting presentations, evening events, and discussions, the conference offers one thing above all: the opportunity for exchange and networking. Numerous sponsors will be on site to provide insights into their solutions and projects. As a result, the event offers plenty of opportunities for conversations, new connections, and exciting ideas.
