Networking in Action: Highlights of the RDM Network Meeting

The first RDM Network Meeting in the new “Practical Special” format took place on May 22, 2025, in the University Library of RWTH Aachen University. The active RDM community at RWTH, comprising data stewards and other individuals involved in RDM, met in an informal setting to share insights on the latest challenges in Research Data Management, present project updates, and discuss recent developments at RWTH with the RDM team.

BUILD ON DATA Conference Proceedings Published

Last year, we reported on the community conference “Auf Daten bauen // Build on Data” organized by the DFG project baureka.online. The two-day conference, which took place on May 4 and 5, 2023 in Berlin, was aimed at people who deal with historical building fabric, collect digital data on built objects and are interested in effective research data management in historical building research and monument preservation. An open access publication has now been published for the conference in May 2023, which we would like to report on in this article.

Around 80 RDM activists and RDM enthusiasts from Aachen and Forschungszentrum Jülich met on November 14, 2023 for a successful lecture and networking event. After we have already informed you about the morning program of the state-wide action day in NRW, we now report on the joint afternoon event of RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZ Jülich) “From Data to Diamonds – Empowering Research with AI and RDM”.

Follow-up Report – RDM Workshop in Essen

From June 14-16, 2023, the Coscine team participated in the RDM workshop hosted by Landesinitiative fdm.nrw in Essen. The RDM workshop offered the opportunity to try out different tools, including Coscine. In different sessions, special functions of the individual tools were presented, which could be tried out by the participants during or afterwards. In addition, the workshop was an optimal opportunity to exchange information about the respective tools and to network. (*)
