Mark your calendars for November 18, 2025! That’s the date of the fifth Research Data Day (TdF) in North Rhine-Westphalia. Under the motto “FAIR Data – FAIR Play: just a matter of line-up” you can expect a practical program featuring a panel discussion with leading NFDI representatives in the morning and an information and networking event in the afternoon. Together with Forschungszentrum Jülich, we will showcase services, practical examples, ideas, and concepts for the successful, FAIR handling of research data!
Research Data Day 2024 – Organized by Forschungszentrum Jülich & RWTH Aachen University

On November 12, 2024, Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) and RWTH Aachen University will host the 4th Day of Research Data in NRW, a full-day event on research data management (RDM) and data science. The morning program will be organized by the state initiative fdm.nrw and broadcast as an online program (in German) in the lecture hall of the PGI. In the afternoon, the focus will be on regional networks under the motto “Successful research networks: growing together with data” (in English). Tools and services in the field of RDM and data science will be presented in interactive and practical sessions. Participants can explore two of the following topics in depth:
- De.KCD: Research Data Management in the Cloud
- DKZ.2R: Reducing data-related hurdles in research
- HDS-LEE: Data-intensive workflows in science
- HMC: Organizing software metadata with Somesy and FAIR Python Cookiecutter
The afternoon program ends with a poster session and an open exchange over drinks and pastries, where participants can network and present their own projects. Registration for the event is possible via this link.

Posters Wanted! Participate in the Research Data Day 2023

On November 14, 2023, the NRW Research Data Day will be a state-wide day of action on research data management. RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich are jointly organising a lecture and networking event on this occasion with a focus on the synergies of artificial intelligence (AI) and research data management (RDM). Be part of this event and submit your poster contribution by October 23, 2023!

Lighthouse RDM: Orientation in the data sea

On November 15, 2022 the Research Data Day in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) will be held for the second time. This time, the motto of the event is “Lighthouse RDM: Orientation in the data sea“.
On this day, events on research data management (RDM) will be held throughout NRW and various universities will present their RDM offerings. The complete programme can be found on the website of the State Initiative for Research Data Management – fdm.nrw.
Leuchtturm FDM: Orientierung im Datenmeer am 15. November 2022
Der 2. Tag der Forschungsdaten in NRW steht unter dem Motto „Leuchtturm FDM: Orientierung im Datenmeer“ und wird am Dienstag, den 15. November 2022 mit einem gemeinsamen, virtuellen Vormittagsprogramm (via Zoom) und verteilten Veranstaltungen am Nachmittag an den Hochschulstandorten in NRW stattfinden.
Den Vormittag werden Forschende mitgestalten, in dem sie in Vorträgen ihre Erfahrungen mit dem Thema FDM als Leuchtturm vorstellen. Am Nachmittag haben die teilnehmenden Standorte die Möglichkeit, ein eigenes Programm virtuell oder in Präsenzveranstaltungen vor Ort zu realisieren. Dies können Vorträge, Hands-on-Workshops oder individuelle Beratungsangebote etc. mit dem Schwerpunkt ‚Sichtbarkeit von FDM / Forschungsdaten‘ sein.
