On June 10, 2026, RWTH Aachen University invites you to the RWTH Talk Lehre 2026. The event will focus on how artificial intelligence is transforming higher education and what opportunities and challenges this presents for faculty and students. The event is aimed at anyone who is actively involved in shaping teaching at RWTH or is interested in doing so.

The Talk Lehre offers an open forum for exchange, new perspectives, and joint discussions on the further development of teaching and learning formats in the context of AI.

Program Kickoff and Keynote

The event begins at 12:30pm with registration and a welcome coffee at SuperC. This will be followed by opening remarks from Prof. Joost-Pieter Katoen, Vice Rector for Teaching, and Alexej Kolbin from the AStA.

Following this, the keynote by Prof. Nelly Litvak from Eindhoven University of Technology will provide important insights. She will address the question of how courses can be designed so that students think actively and develop their own skills, even when working with AI tools. The focus will be on concrete experiences from teaching practice.

Practical Sessions

In the afternoon, six parallel sessions will take place in two time slots. The presentations cover different perspectives on AI in teaching. These include introductions for instructors who wish to gain initial experience with AI, as well as practice-oriented formats on customizable chatbots and applications in programming education.

Other presentations address the use of AI-generated content and explore its impact on learning processes and assessment formats. The goal is to exchange experiences and discuss meaningful applications of AI in higher education together.

Poster Session and Best Practices

During the afternoon coffee break, a poster session invites participants to exchange ideas about various teaching projects. Faculty members will present practical examples where AI is already being used in courses. Topics include learning support, exam formats, and pedagogical innovations.

A total of 17 booths will be presented. Among them, for example:

  • AI-powered serious game as an exam component: Students take on the role of decision-makers in a simulated company and experience the effects of their decisions in a dynamic, AI-supported environment.
  • Flipped classroom for academic work in engineering: Core fundamentals such as academic writing, research, and citation are taught digitally. Class time is used for application, discussion, and individual feedback.
  • Development of pedagogically sound Moodle course templates: This booth is dedicated to the further development of digital teaching and learning spaces in the context of the RWTH Moodle course templates. These templates help instructors structure their courses and integrate interactive elements effectively into their teaching.

Closing and Participation

The program concludes with a panel discussion on the topic of AI in theses. Current issues surrounding transparency, the use of AI tools, and appropriate assessment formats will be addressed.

The event concludes with closing remarks by Prof. Joost-Pieter Katoen.

The RWTH Talk Lehre 2026 can be attended free of charge both in person and online. Registration is open until June 8, 2026.
