Datensicherung.NRW continues to grow.
Data Protection by NRW Universities for NRW Universities is the approach used to design the state-wide service.
Now that 29 universities have joined the consortium, another big player from the data protection sector has joined: the software manufacturer Commvault, offered by the systems house Cancom.
On 20.09.2021 the digital kick off for the cooperation took place. Details about the kick off can be found in this article.
And the Winner is…. Commvault!
An essential part of the DH.NRW pre-project Datensicherung.NRW (DaSi.NRW) is the procurement of the infrastructure for the state-wide service of the same name. This includes the corresponding software for the NRW consortium. The winner of this tender is Commvault -a professional in data backup and recovery.
The kick-off for a state-wide cooperation
After the welcome by Thomas Eifert, Project Manager DaSi.NRW, and IT Center Director Prof. Matthias Müller, Commvault was introduced by Managing Director Elke Steinegger. Among other things, she expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in Commvault and looked forward to working with NRW’s universities. Thomas Görner, who represented the system house Cancom, also echoed the previous speaker’s words and is excited about the cooperation in such a promising project.
Preparing for the changeover
Of course, the changeover to a new software solution at a university is a challenge – at 29 universities it is a completely different dimension. Considering the changeover at the state level, we are pleased that we are cooperating with strong partners with whom this software contract has come about. The contents of the contract and the implementation of the licensing are important aspects and were therefore on the agenda of the kick-off. The kick-off was rounded off by a presentation of the role-specific training concept, which was explicitly part of the tender to ensure that colleagues are equipped with the appropriate know-how.
