In the past few days, the “Be Future” fair was once again held at the St. Ursula Gymnasium in Geilenkirchen. This fair offers a comprehensive insight into the wide range of career opportunities – be it university studies, dual course of studies or apprenticeships.
Since the first Be Future in 2006, more and more students have been visiting this fair and this time there were more exhibitors than ever before. Nearly 90 exhibitors were on hand to provide information to around 2,000 young people about what options are available after school and what to expext in a univeristy or apprenticeship.

The IT Center was also represented: Claudia Keverpütz, from the Computational Science & Engineering training group MATSE/CSE, provided information about the dual study program with integrated training to become mathematical-technical software developers – MATSE for short – as many young people show great interest in this IT training.

MATSE combines the Applied Mathematics and Computer Science course at Aachen University of Applied Sciences with practical IT training in companies in the Aachen region or at RWTH University institutions. MATSE are also trained at the IT Center.

This profession combines practice and theory of mathematics and computer science. MATSE will program software for people in teams at university and in IT companies.
And the chances of success are high! 70% of students successfully graduate and find a job. Our colleague describes it this way:

“The market is so hungry that anyone who graduates will find a job.”

One thing’s for sure: this certainly won’t be the last fair where you can learn more about MATSE. If you’re still unsure about what you want to do when you grow up or are interested in topics like software development, you’re welcome to stop by the RWTH IT Center booth at future fairs.

Here are the next dates:

  • October 27 – 28, 2023: Berufe Live Rheinland, Cologne, XPOST
  • Ocotber 31, 2023: Career Day at the Eurogress at RWTH Aachen University vocational training booth
  • November 18,2023: Horizon Düsseldorf in the old spring factory (alte Federnfabrik)
  • November 23, 2023: FUTURE MATCH in the Stadthalle Alsdorf at the booth of the vocational training programs of RWTH Aachen University

If you don’t have time to visit a fair, you can also get information on the webpage of MATSE and even send your application on the webpage.
