Welcome, New MATSE Trainees!
This year, we are pleased with the even three-figure MATSE growth! 103 prospective number crunchers have started their dual studies with integrated training as mathematical-technical software developers – MATSE for short.
The newcomers were welcomed at the MATSE beginners’ event on September 4 at the IT Center. The 6th of September also held exciting events in store for our first-year students.

This year, we are once again very pleased to welcome our new trainees.
As a training company of RWTH Aachen University, we give enthusiastic young talents the opportunity to learn and grow in a dynamic and future-oriented environment. This year, we are very pleased to welcome a total of 11 new trainees at the IT Center, who now look forward to their exciting apprenticeships as IT specialists for system integration (FiSi), management assistants for office management (KfB), management assistants for dialog marketing (DiMa), and mathematical-technical software developers (MATSE). MATSE Trainee Wins 2nd Place at GermEval Contest
Trainees bring a breath of fresh air to companies and often surprise with remarkable achievements. A notable example is Patrick Gustav Blaneck, a former MATSE trainee at the IT Center, who won the second place at the GermEval 2022 contest.
We as an employer think that it’s important to recognize and highlight the achievements of our employees. For that reason, we spoke with Patrick about his work, the experience he gained along the way, and his plans for the future.
This Was the Software Technology Fair 2023 in Aachen
Finally the software technology fair could take place again in presence in the rooms of the IT Center. The prospective mathematical-technical software developers (MATSE) of the dual course of studies “Applied Mathematics and Computer Science” of the University of Applied Sciences Aachen presented their project work in the SWT fair on the premises of the IT Center of the RWTH Aachen University on February 22, 2023. In the 3rd semester of the course, the fair and the presentation of the projects form the conclusion of the software engineering module for the dual trainees. Welcome new MATSE trainees!
90 new trainees began their dual training as mathematical-technical software developers (MATSE) on September 1.

The IT Center Picture Puzzle: Computational Science & Engineering (CSE) Department
#MeetMeWednesday: Our series “The IT Center Picture Puzzle” went into the third round and we were again looking for a word on our social media channels that stands for a department of the IT Center.
We were looking for five letters and the word “Lehre” (teaching) – did you guess it? In this blog post, we present not only the solution word, but also the corresponding interview with the Computational Science & Engineering (CSE) department. In this interview, you will learn more about the fields of activity and gain exciting insights into the diverse department of the IT Center.
Software Technology Fair in Aachen
MATSE show practical projects from dual study
For many years, the upcoming mathematical-technical software developers of the dual study program “Applied Mathematics and Computer Science” (MATSE) of the FH Aachen have presented their project work in an in-house fair at the IT Center. This year the presentation of the projects took place digitally on 22.02.2022. In the 3rd semester of their study, the dual trainees worked on practical projects in small groups in the module “Software Technology” of Prof. Bodo Kraft.
