Rain in the morning, sun in the afternoon, and good spirits all day long: That’s probably the best way to sum up this year’s IT Center company excursion. On May 28, 2025, it was time for employees to get out of the office and into adventure! Once again, the day was all about team spirit, variety, and fun with a colorful program of knowledge, nature, water activities, and cozy get-togethers. More on our previous company excursions can be found in our blog entries.
Despite the less than inviting weather in the morning, no one let it spoil the mood. And as is so often the case, perseverance was rewarded: as the day progressed, the sky cleared and the sun came out just in time for the joint finale in the afternoon.
A Varied Program for All Tastes

Wanderlust and Pure Nature
Hiking enthusiasts had two routes to choose from: a 5 km route and a 10 km route. Both led along the “Rursee”, past water, forests, horses, and cows. Not only were there beautiful views, but the weather also improved with every passing hour!
Water, Water Everywhere! – Activities on and in the Water
Those who preferred to get wet could let off steam at Sunny Beach: whether stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), canoeing, pedal boating, or simply relaxing by the water – there was something for everyone.
Maritime Atmosphere on the Boat Tour
The boat tour on “Rursee” was also a real highlight. Despite the rain at the start, many were not deterred and enjoyed the trip across the water in good company and with excellent views.
Heimbach Hydroelectric Power Station
For the more inquisitive, there was an informative trip to the Heimbach hydroelectric power station. During a guided tour, visitors were able to view the Art Nouveau power station up close. Particularly fascinating was the historic part of the power station with its collection of old electrical appliances and the original control center, whose measuring instruments are mounted on marble.
A Cozy End to the Day in Good Company
At 2 pm, all the groups met at the Beach Club Eifel. Together, they drank, laughed, and ended the day in a relaxed atmosphere. The weather had come out in full force – perfect conditions for a few more hours together.
Despite the rain at the beginning, the 2025 company excursion was an all-round successful day that once again showed how enjoyable it can be to spend time together away from the desk.
A big thank you goes to the party team for organizing the excursion so well – and especially to the IT Center management, without whose support this wonderful day would not have been possible.
