Digital Day is a nationwide campaign day that will take place on June 27, 2025, with the aim of promoting digital participation for everyone in Germany. Under the motto “Digital for all,” the focus is on digital democracy. But what exactly does that mean, and why is it important?
Focus on Digital Democracy
The term “digital democracy” describes the use of digital technologies to strengthen social cohesion and enable everyone to participate actively. Especially in times when digital media shape our everyday lives, it is important to take advantage of these opportunities. Digital Day makes it clear that digitalization is not just technology, but also a means for greater participation and co-creation.
A Wide Range of Activities Across the Country
A wide variety of players are involved in Digital Day: public institutions, companies, and civil society organizations. They offer workshops, lectures, and hands-on activities that convey digital topics in a clear and concise manner.
The program is deliberately aimed at everyone, whether they are digital novices or experienced users. The “action map,” which lists all the events, is particularly helpful. It allows interested parties to easily find out which events are taking place in their area or which online offerings are available. This makes Digital Day a lively platform for exchange and learning.
Why the IT Center Supports Digital Day
The IT Center at RWTH Aachen University considers Digital Day an important initiative for strengthening digital skills and breaking down barriers. It is particularly evident in universities and research institutions how much digital technologies are changing our everyday lives. This makes it all the more important to get everyone on board and empower them.
We encourage students, employees, and the entire community to participate in Digital Day—whether by attending events or getting involved themselves. Digitalization can only succeed if we all participate.
Get Involved and Learn More
Digital Day offers a great opportunity to learn about current developments and get involved yourself. The official website and action map feature numerous offers, both regional and digital.
Take advantage of this opportunity to network, acquire new digital skills, and help shape the digital future! Because digital participation is the key to an open and inclusive society.
