EUNIS25 Best Paper Award: Award for the IT Center

We are pleased to announce that Bernd Decker and Denise Dittrich, from the IT Center at RWTH Aachen University, have won the EUNIS 2025 Best Paper Award. In their award-winning paper, entitled ‘Cost Management for the Use of Generative AI in Higher Education: A Case Study from North Rhine-Westphalia’, the authors highlight the key functions of cost management within KI:connect.nrw and share their experiences of using it at RWTH Aachen University.

 

 

 

Best Paper Award for “Cost Management for the Use of Generative AI in Higher Education: A Case Study from North Rhine-Westphalia”

 In their article, Bernd Decker and Denise Dittrich discuss cost management within KI:connect.nrw, covering everything from requirements and weighing measures to implementation. Drawing on their experience at RWTH Aachen University, they demonstrate how effective cost management can optimize the potential of generative AI in higher education.

The project’s main objectives include transparent cost allocation tailored to specific user groups, such as students, employees, and projects, as well as flexible budget control mechanisms that consider the different funding sources within participating universities.

EUNIS Congress 2025

EUNIS (European University Information Systems) is an association of European university information systems. The association supports its member institutions in developing and optimizing their IT landscapes by promoting the exchange of experiences and cooperation among them. The EUNIS Congress takes place once a year.

The EUNIS25 Annual Congress took place from June 4 to 6, 2025, at Ulster University in Belfast, UK, under the motto “Connecting Communities and Fostering Creativity.” Denise Dittrich, who traveled from Aachen to Belfast, accepted the award on behalf of Bernd Decker.

Entries for the EUNIS Best Paper Award are selected from the full papers submitted by conference participants. The evaluation committee is composed of members of the EUNIS Scientific Committee.

The award recognizes the outstanding research of Bernd Decker and Denise Dittrich and underscores the importance of innovative approaches in education management.

We are proud to have such dedicated researchers at the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University and congratulate them both on this well-deserved success!
