The IT Center is not just a place of work, it’s also a place to celebrate and with all the pomp and circumstance of Carnival! Once again this year, employees didn’t miss the opportunity to celebrate the fifth season together.

Gathering and Polonaise

Fat Thursday started at 10:15am with the gathering of the IT Center’s revelers at Seffenterweg 23. This year’s motto: Colorful fruit salad – whether strawberry, lemon, banana, or pineapple, it’s going to be fruity! Colorful costumes, good spirits, and lots of anticipation filled the rooms. This was followed by the traditional polonaise, which wound its way through the building. The cheerful snake of celebrating people, which once again demonstrated how wonderful solidarity and community spirit can be, ended with the custom of cutting off ties on the management level of the IT Center. A carnival ritual that provided fun and smiles for everyone involved. Afterwards, the employees made their way together to C.A.R.L., where all RWTH members celebrated “C.A.R.nevaL.” with us.

The Program

Admission began at 11am with music that immediately put everyone in a good mood. At 12pm, Rector Prof. Dr. Ulrich Rüdiger ceremoniously handed over the key to the building, before the band “Deschawü” took to the stage at 12:30pm and created an exuberant atmosphere with their carnival hits.

The highlight was the visit of His Majesty Prince Lukas I at 1pm With humor, dancing, and a lot of warmth, he made the revelers laugh and gave the event a very special sparkle. Afterwards, DJ daCream kept the party going into the evening with dance music.

Carnival at the IT Center is more than just a party; it is a sign of team spirit. Events like this strengthen the bond between employees, bring colleagues from all areas together, and create moments that go beyond everyday work.

From the colorful polonaise to the band’s performance to the party, Carnival at the IT Center is a complete success. Everyone laughed, danced and enjoyed the colorful festivities together. All in all, it was another thoroughly successful Carnival celebration.

We are already looking forward to the next Carnival celebration and would like to thank the RWTH event team for this great party!
