Carnival Celebration at the IT Center 2024

The highlight of the carnival season – Fat Thursday or Weiberfastnacht – was also duly heralded at the IT Center. Many look forward to this day all year round and on February 8, 2024, it finally happened!
On this day, the IT Center’s employees met in their most colorful costumes in the foyer of the IT-ServiceDesk at Seffenter Weg 23 to celebrate the fifth season. From 10:30 am, the departments arrived one by one and the carnival party could get started!

Once again this year, the IT Center, as the data center of a traditional Rhineland university, is getting carried away by the carnival hustle and bustle of our so called fifth season. The carnival season is just around the corner, and with it come some adjustments to the IT Center opening hours. Here you can find an overview of our opening hours during carnival.

On fat Thursday, the IT Center was finally bright and colorful again.
Disguised employees from different departments of the IT Center met at the festively decorated IT-ServiceDesk at Seffenter Weg 23.
At exactly 10:11 am the carnivals party started. With suitable music the beloved fifth season was celebrated.

As the data center of a Rhenish university rich in tradition, the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University also enjoys the fifth season.
Therefore, there will be changes in the opening hours of the IT ServiceDesk over the carnival days:

After two years of not being able to celebrate the so-called fifth season as tradition dictates, there is reason to breathe a sigh of relief on November 11 this year: the start of the carnival season is largely back to “normal”. As every year, it will be initiated at 11:11am – that is, at this very moment. But why on this date and why at this time? Let’s take a closer look at this together.
Our Opening Hours During Carnival

This year, things may not be quite as turbulent as usual over carnival. Nevertheless, there is a change in our usual opening hours this year: On Rose Monday, February 28, 2022, the IT Center will be closed. Therefore, the IT Service Desk will not be available on this day. Appointments to submit certificate applications will also not be possible on this day. Read the rest of this entry »
