Review of the MoodleCafé on Course Room Design
Students will be familiar with this: course rooms in RWTHmoodle either contain summaries of the respective lecture or seminar or are a hodgepodge of content. But they can also look different: clearly structured and filled with all the content that is important for the course. In addition, there are also various options for interactively deepening learning content or submitting assignments. Although forums, assignments, and tests are among the most frequently used activities, Moodle offers much more to facilitate the learning experience for students. The fifth MoodleCafé therefore focused on course room design. Two practical examples were used to show how design principles can be implemented effectively.

In the current winter semester, the Center for Teaching and Learning Services (CLS) is once again inviting participants to the digital exchange format MoodleCafé. MoodleCafé offers teachers and teaching assistants at RWTH Aachen University the opportunity to gain insights into successful teaching practices and to contribute their own questions or experiences.
This semester, the event series focuses on the topic “Best Practice in RWTHmoodle – Structured, visually clear, and didactically diverse course rooms”. The aim is to highlight the diverse design options offered by RWTHmoodle and discuss practical examples. Teachers from various disciplines will present their Moodle course rooms and show how structure, didactics, and design interact to optimally support learning processes.
MoodleCafé – Exchange Format for Good Teaching With RWTHmoodle
Are you looking for good practice examples for the use of RWTHmoodle in teaching? Then visit the ‘MoodleCafé’.
In this new digital exchange format, lecturers from different departments at RWTH Aachen University will present concrete examples of how they use specific functions such as StudentQuiz, PDF annotation or gamification to benefit their teaching. Take the opportunity to familiarise yourself with previously little-known functions in RWTHmoodle, exchange ideas about challenges and solutions and benefit from the positive experiences of your colleagues.
Innovative Learning: MoodleCafé begins
This semester, the Center for Teaching and Learning Services (CLS) is offering the new digital exchange format “MoodleCafé” for the first time via Zoom, which focuses on a selected Moodle topic with best practice examples from RWTH teaching practice. This semester’s topics include the Moodle activities “StudentQuiz” and “Peer Review“.
The first MoodleCafé will take place on June 12 from 2pm to 3 pm and will focus on the collaborative StudentQuiz. This offers numerous didactic advantages by enabling students to create, answer and evaluate quiz questions together, while at the same time integrating gamification elements to increase motivation.
