On January 12, 2022, the first open meeting of the RDM network took place online via Zoom this year. The aim of these gatherings is to enable an exchange of frequently asked questions and best practices from RDM and to build a coordinated network at RWTH Aachen University. This time, the RDM team, together with the data stewards, RDM officers and RDM interested parties at RWTH, took a closer look at how the Research Data Management Organiser (RDMO) works.

RDMO for Data Management

At the beginning, there was a short introduction to the topic of data management plans (DMP). Sabine Schönau then presented the RDM tool RDMO and how it works. Not only was the work with RDMO from the user’s point of view and the creation of DMPs looked at in more detail, but the XML structure was also explained. The latter is particularly important for the further processing of information from the DMP.

Through the presentation, the participants were able to gain an insight into the scope that RDMO offers when creating DMPs and how to generate insights for research funders. In addition, questions about access to RDMO, the storage location of the data and evaluation possibilities of the questionnaires in RDMO were clarified. The lively exchange between the participants after and during the presentation reflected not only the strong interest but also the importance of the topic.

Presentation on Dependency Analysis of Research Data at the IoP using GitLab has been postponed

The second planned talk on “Dependency Analysis of Research Data at the IoP using GitLab” unfortunately had to be cancelled due to illness and will probably be made up for the next Ropen meeting of the RDM network in February. The open meetings of the RDM network take place on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 10 am to 12 pm.
