The official second RDM Toolbench will take place from 18 to 20 March 2024 at RWTH Aachen University! Take part in shaping the content of the community workshop and submit an abstract by January 15, 2024 to secure one of the coveted places!

What Is It About?

The RDM toolbench is a solution-orientated workshop format in which the participants work together on site over several days to develop tools and their own RDM solutions. They learn from each other and with each other. The level ranges from introductory and basic formats to in-depth coding sessions.

Participants will be accompanied by RDM experts from the NRW State Initiative for Research Data Management (fdm.nrw). This time, the event will receive further expert support from the cooperation with the Rhine-Ruhr Data Competence Center “DKZ.2R”, which was launched at the RWTH IT Center in 2023.

Who Can Take Part?

The RDM toolbench is aimed at researchers and scientific staff who are interested in RDM topics and are actively working on solutions to improve RDM in their research group or for their project.

As already mentioned, prior knowledge is not important: if you would like to deal with an RDM-related topic, the RDM toolbench is just as welcome a place for you as if you are already programming your own analysis tool or putting together a pipeline. You are also welcome to take part if you are simply interested in RDM topics and would like to exchange ideas.

How Can You Take Part?

The program of the RDM toolbench will be designed according to your participation and your suggested topics. You have two options for including your specific topic in the program:

  1. you are very welcome to organise a session yourself. This should not last longer than three hours. Please submit an abstract with a title, a brief description of the project, maximum number of participants and participation requirements (knowledge, accounts, installations, …).
  2. if you have a topic request but are unable to organise a session with this content yourself or require support, please add this note to the abstract. Our colleagues at fdm.nrw will then get in touch with you and ask experts to help you organise the session.

Contact information for submitting the abstract, for registration without a specific topic proposal or for further questions can be found in the next section.
