From November 24 to 26, 2025 the second Data Competence College, organized by the Rhine-Ruhr Center for Scientific Data Competence (DKZ.2R), will be held at the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University. Drawing inspiration from renowned institutions such as the Wissenschaftskolleg in Berlin and the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, the DKZ.2R team has invited two leading data competence experts to share their insights.
These Data Experts Await You
- Prof. Julian Kunkel is Professor of High Performance Computing at the University of Göttingen and Deputy Director of the GWDG. This service organization works closely with the University of Göttingen and the Max Planck Society. He is an expert in data-driven workflows, parallel file systems, and the application of machine learning methods.
- Prof. Maribel Acosta teaches databases and information systems at Ruhr University Bochum. Her research focuses on databases, the Semantic Web, and artificial intelligence. Recently, she has been investigating innovative techniques for efficient querying of knowledge graphs and the application of machine learning approaches to solve various problems in knowledge graph management.
- Prof. Bodo Winter is a professor of linguistics at the University of Birmingham and uses data science-based approaches to study multimodal communication. His commitment to open science and reproducible research practices runs through all of his work.
Your Registration for the DKZ.2R Data Competence College – Be There!
During the three-day event, the DKZ.2R team will create a space where local scientists, especially early-career researchers, can learn from each other. The agenda includes keynote presentations by data experts, poster presentations by participants, and opportunities for one-on-one interactions between experts and early-career researchers. Additionally, workshops on the methodological aspects of data processing will be offered.
Interdisciplinary exchanges among experts can provide valuable insights into data processing and methodological analysis. Thus, the DKZ.2R Data Competence College contributes to the mutual enrichment of participants and experts.
We previously reported on the last Data Competence College in the RDM blog. Further information on the past event can also be found in the DKZ.2R Zenodo community. To register or for more information, please use the registration form link.
