In this report, we look back on the last Meeting of the RDM Network on March 19, 2025: Learn more about the RDM network, its vision and the future development of the RDM network meetings at RWTH Aachen University. We also share the highlights of our Data Stewards and network members that they experienced during the E-Science Days 2025 in Heidelberg.

In this article, we would like to reflect on our first Meeting of the RDM Network in the new year at RWTH Aachen University. It took place on January 15, 2025 and was entitled “Further development of the RDM network and an update of the central RDM services”.
Reflections on the Open Science Festival 2024 in Mainz

Three data stewards from the technical training and consulting group N. Parks, K. Dukkart and C. Gonzalez of the Research Process and Data Management (RPDM) Department recently had the opportunity to attend the third annual Open Science Festival held at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, an event dedicated to exploring the principles and practices of Open Science.
As in the previous year, the festival brought together a diverse group of participants—from students and researchers to decision-makers and Research Data Management (RDM) professionals under the inspiring motto: “Meet, Share, Inspire, Care”.

This year’s TU9 workshop for data stewards took place from September 11 to 12, 2024 at RWTH Aachen University. The two-day workshop provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on research data management in science and technology, with a particular focus on the role of data stewards. In this article we look back on two successful and instructive days.

Not long now – stewards, data experts, data curators and anyone interested in the topic of RDM will be meeting in Aachen for the third Data Stewardship goes Germany Workshop 2024. The focus will be on the participants themselves and their networks in the field of data stewardship. However, not only the two-day workshop, but also the two additional training courses as part of Data Stewardship goes Germany (DSgG) invite you to spend the late summer in Aachen. Open Meeting of the RDM Network in June 2024

On June 12, 2024, the open meeting of the RDM network at RWTH Aachen University on the topic of “Publication – Open Access and Data Publication” took place online via Zoom again. After the last RDM network meeting, which took place as a face-to-face event at the University Library of RWTH Aachen University, the RDM team of RWTH Data Stewards invited doctoral students, postdocs and those interested in RDM to the virtual open meeting of the RDM.

Data Stewardship goes Germany 2024

This year’s Data Stewardship goes Germany (DSgG) workshop will take place at RWTH Aachen University on September 11 and 12, 2024. After Braunschweig and Dresden, this year’s workshop, organized by the Research Data Management working group at TU9, will take place in the imperial city of Aachen. Submit your contribution by June 10, 2024 and secure one of the coveted places.

This article is part of our series “Data Champions at RWTH”. Data Champions are researchers or employees who have excelled in the field of research data management (RDM) and/or have experience that is groundbreaking for colleagues or can serve as a guide.
Our first Data Champion is Prof. Dr. med. Carolin Victoria Schneider. She works at RWTH University Hospital and was named Young Scientist of the Year 2023 by academics. We spoke to Ms. Schneider about her connection to and interest in Research Data Management.

In our last article about the Research Data Day (TdF) 2023 in NRW, we informed you extensively about this day of action for research data management and launched a call for poster contributions for the joint afternoon program of RWTH and Forschungszentrum Jülich. The posters are an essential part of the networking event and will be presented after our diverse lecture program. In this post, we would now like to present in detail the program flow for the event “From Data to Diamonds – Empowering Research with AI and RDM” on Research Data Day.
