FDM-Werkstatt 2026

The English-language FDM-Werkstatt will take place in Düsseldorf from March 23 to 25, 2026. The community format is dedicated to practical Research Data Management tools and is aimed at researchers, data stewards, and anyone else who is interested, regardless of their level of experience.
The focus is on interactive hands-on sessions in which various applications are tried out and discussed together. The program covers topics ranging from data management planning and documentation to analysis and collaborative working methods within the RDM community.
RWTH Aachen University will also be represented with several contributions. Among other things, Coscine, RDMO, ROOT Tools, and Python-based workflows will be presented. In addition, RWTH staff will present a contribution on knowledge exchange and peer-to-peer structures within the community.
The event offers the opportunity to gain practical experience with RDM tools, network with other institutions, and gain new inspiration for your own work context. Registration is open until February 27, 2026. Further information on the program can be found at fdm.nrw.

The next FDM-Werkstatt will take place in Düsseldorf from March 23 to 25, 2026, and will be conducted in English. 2024 was another exciting year for research data management (RDM). At RWTH Aachen University and beyond, numerous events, new initiatives and exciting developments have further advanced RDM. It was a year full of innovations, challenges and inspiring encounters. Let’s take a look at the highlights of the past year!
RDM Toolbox 2024 – Day 3

The first two days of the FDM workshop have already been reported on the RDM blog. On the third day of the FDM workshop, everything revolved around the FDM tools LiaScript, Datalad and Coscine. A discussion round on the DKZ.2R data competence center was also part of the last day’s program. You can find out more about the details of the individual sessions in this article.

The official second toolbench for Research Data Management (RDM) will take place from 18 to 20 March 2024 at RWTH Aachen University!
The RDM toolbench is a solution-orientated workshop format in which the participants work together on site over several days to develop tools and their own RDM solutions. They learn from each other and with each other. The level ranges from introductory and basic formats to in-depth coding sessions.

Today we would like to inform you that the conception phase has been completed and the DKZ.2R has been launched.
