One Year FAIR Data Spaces – What Has Happened so Far?

In May, the “FAIR Data Spaces” project celebrated its first anniversary. The project application was submitted to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) at the beginning of April last year. The funding already started on May 17, 2021. Since then, the FAIR Data Spaces community has been built up and the first milestones have been reached together. In this blog post, we take a look at what has happened in the last year.

On May 11, 2022, it was once again time for the monthly open meeting of the RDM network. Around 70 data stewards, RDM managers and those interested in RDM at RWTH Aachen University came together online via Zoom. This time, the main topic was research funding with a focus on the innovations and requirements of the DFG for RDM.

We continue with our series “RDM explained”, in which we provide you with important terms and information for practical research data management. In addition to the classic scientific journals, there are also so-called data journals in scientific publishing. In contrast to the scientific journal, these refer exclusively to data. However, some people are still completely unfamiliar with this form of publication. For this reason, we would like to take a closer look at data journals on RWTH blog around the topic of Research Data Management (RDM).
New RDM Training Concept at RWTH Aachen University
In April 2022, the RDM team will start a new training format on research data management “FDM II-modular”, offering you two-hour hands-on workshops on focus topics of research data management. The workshops will take place regularly on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 10am to 12 noon.
New DFG Templates for Funding Proposals
At the German Research Foundation (DFG), the topic of research data management (FDM) is becoming increasingly important. When preparing a proposal, you should therefore consider FDM at an early stage. This does not have to be a lot of work. What is crucial is that you reflect once on what research data you will use and how you will process it. In this article we would like to inform you about the new DFG templates.
Open Meeting of the RDM Network on April 13, 2022

The time will soon come again: the next open meeting of the RDM network will take place online via Zoom on April 13, 2022. This time, RDM managers and data stewards can look forward to two topics. The next meeting will focus on a presentation of the KNIME software and an introduction to dependency analysis of research data at the IoP using GitLab.
