Why can’t I log in to Zoom?

We have often reported in our blog about the Zoom video conferencing software and its provision for RWTH Aachen University by the Center for Teaching and Learning Services (CLS). However, few people will know that the IT Center and the CLS are cooperating at this point to make logging into Zoom as easy as possible for users. Therefore, in this post, we want to give you a brief crash course on logging into Zoom.
RWTHjupyter enters pilot phase
We already presented the test operation of the JupyterHub at RWTH Aachen University a few weeks ago on the IT Center Blog. So far, the JupyterHub cluster has only been in the test phase. Now it will grow into a new service! For this purpose, the service with the beautiful name “RWTHjupyter” will enter the pilot phase on February 22, 2021.
At the start of the pilot phase, we’ll give you a closer look at what RWTHjupyter can do and where the seemingly unusual name comes from.

Welcome to RWTHjupyter!

5G – Using frequencies – Overview of regulation
Electromagnetic waves are suitable for the wireless transmission of signals in a limited frequency range. To ensure efficient use of this finite resource, international harmonisation agreements are made. At the national level, allocations to specific radio services are made in the Frequency Ordinance.
Frequencies can be allocated to the general public, service operators (e.g. Deutsche Telekom) and private users (e.g. RWTH Aachen University). This allocation takes place upon application to the Federal Network Agency. It regulates and determines the allocation modalities. On the one hand, this creates the greatest possible flexibility for the use of the frequencies, and on the other hand, attention is paid to possible interference in the joint use of a frequency by other users.
Our FAQs for Students about RWTHonline
The semester is almost over and now it’s time again: the exam period starts.
But where can I actually see all the information about my exams? How do I cancel an exam if it becomes a bit too much? What happens if I don’t show up? And where can I see the next dates? So many questions and so little time!

5G – The new mobile communications technology
The new mobile communications standard 5G is playing an increasingly important role worldwide – including here at RWTH Aachen University. And that’s why, as of today, we’re dedicating a small series to the topic every Friday, providing background information, technical info and an outlook for the future.

Can I use Microsoft 365 free of charge as a student? – Yes, you can!
Who doesn’t know them? The stories of grandma and grandpa, how they typed their letters, texts and final papers late into the night by the light of a candle at the typewriter. Every mistake was fatal, because it meant rewriting the page if necessary. Or the tales told by parents of how they had to deal with the first home PCs of the 1990s, with early versions of various Office applications at their disposal.
By 2021, things look different. Candles have been replaced by lamps, computers fit in your pocket, and most software is available to users digitally on the Internet. And errors can now be corrected within seconds.

Not only multi- and cross-, but now also omnichannel!
As the single point of contact (SPoC) for customer support at IT Center Services and selected university services, customer satisfaction is a top priority for us. To make it especially convenient for you, we therefore offer several channels for contacting us. So you can reach us not only by phone and mail, but also by chat and via the ticket portal, you can leave messages and comments on Twitter, Facebook and here on the blog, and you can like us on YouTube. This means that we have several channels (multichannel).

The changeover to a so-called omnichannel tool enables us to design input channels more clearly.
