On September 27, 2024, the IT Center celebrated Oktoberfest 2024, which was opened by the management with warm words. Professor Matthias Müller opened the celebration with a short speech and got the guests in the mood for the festive occasion.

A special highlight of the event was the tribute to Daniel Bündgens, who celebrated his 25th anniversary of service. With warm words, congratulations and a small gift, he was honored for his many years of loyalty and commitment to the IT Center.

Oktoberfest Olympics

As is the IT Center tradition, the Oktoberfest Olympics took place again this year. The ambitious employees formed a total of six teams to compete against each other in five different festive disciplines.

The teams:

  • Partyteam,
  • Maßlos gut,
  • BugBusters,
  • Reinrömern in Maßen,
  • Code Ninjas and
  • Die halben Brezeln

competed in cornhole, axe throwing, nailing a board, hook-and-loop fasteners and a beer mug obstacle course for the highly coveted first place.

In the end, however, only the team “Reinrömern in Maßen” was able to take the first place they deserved – congratulations!

Festive Tradition

Of course, the appropriate attire was a must. Some of the participants wore traditional costumes, complete with dirndls and lederhosen, giving the celebration the finishing touches. Food and drink were also well catered for. In addition to a wide range of drinks from the beverage cart, the popular food truck “Tom’s CurryCup” – which was already a highlight from last year – provided culinary diversity. This meant that guests were able to toast with Bavarian specialties, such as a beer and a pretzel. At the food truck, guests could choose from a wide selection of French fries. In addition, there were numerous hearty meat dishes and vegan alternatives to choose from, so there was something for every taste.

Despite the rain that came up in the evening, the party was rounded off with a festive atmosphere, the right music and a full dance floor.

At this point, we would like to thank the party team once again for organizing the IT Center Oktoberfest in 2024. Of course, a big thank you also goes to Professor Müller, who makes these parties possible for us in the first place.

We are already looking forward to the next Oktoberfest!
