Designing course rooms in Moodle can be a challenge – especially for those who are not yet familiar with the platform’s extensive possibilities. It is therefore not surprising that in our last RWTHmoodle user survey in the summer semester, more than two thirds of lecturers expressed great interest in course templates. We take this feedback very seriously and are actively addressing the issue.
What Exactly Are Moodle Templates and How Can They Help?
Moodle templates are predefined course structures designed to help lecturers design their course rooms efficiently and didactically. They offer a kind of “blueprint” for the course, which already contains basic elements such as course overview, learning objectives, activities and materials. The templates can be adapted flexibly, depending on the specific requirements of the course and the target group.
With the development of Moodle templates, we want to offer lecturers an easy way to design their Moodle course rooms quickly and in a structured way. In the coming year, we will test our first Moodle templates, which are tailored to different teaching scenarios and didactic needs, as part of a pilot operation with selected pilot users.
Moodlecafé: Best Practices From RWTH Teaching Practice
In the user survey, many of you also expressed the wish to learn more from successful Moodle examples from practice in order to adopt proven methods for your own course design. To fulfill this wish, we have created the MoodleCafé – an exchange format specifically designed to share best practice examples from RWTH teaching practice. In the winter semester 2024/25 there are still two dates in the MoodleCafé:
- November 20: Gamification in Best Practice
- December 4: Collecting data collaboratively with the database activity
Take the opportunity to learn from the experiences of colleagues and further develop your own Moodle course room. Further information and registration can be found in the event database. We look forward to your participation.
