Whether you’ve just started your first semester or are already in the middle of your studies, IT skills are a real advantage in any subject area. This is exactly where the fIT courses at RWTH come in: they offer you the opportunity to learn how to use important programs or refresh your existing knowledge. Whether Excel, MATLAB, or Python – the free training courses will get you ready for your studies, research, and beyond.
What Is fIT?
The fIT team at RWTH offers free IT training courses that make it easier for you to use common programs. The aim is to enable you to use both your own resources and the IT services offered by RWTH even more effectively. The courses are aimed at all students at RWTH who want to acquire basic IT skills or refresh their existing knowledge.
The fIT Course Offerings
Each semester, a selection of different IT training courses takes place:
- Introduction to MATLAB
- Introduction to Python
- Introduction to SPSS
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Programming in Microsoft Office
- Simulate with MATLAB and Simulink
- Text processing using LaTeX
All current courses and descriptions of course content can be found on the IT Center website.
All fIT courses require registration and are held in German. Registration takes place via RWTHonline. If you have any questions, please contact the fIT team or the respective lecturer.
The courses offered are based on demand, so if you would like to see a course in the IT field that is not yet available, please send an email to the fIT team. And: Tell your friends and fellow students about it – the more people are interested, the greater the chance of new courses being offered!
Certificate Upon Successful Completion
You will not receive any credit points for participating in the fIT courses, but you will receive a certificate upon successful completion. This will be sent to you by email. As a bachelor’s student, you can have this entered in your “Diploma Supplement” if necessary. For more information, please contact the Central Examination Office.
