The New RWTH Software Shop

To make the provision of software to RWTH members even more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly, the IT Center is providing a new central solution: the RWTH Software Shop. This is aimed at both institutions and employees as well as students at RWTH Aachen University and combines a wide range of software offerings on a single platform. The new shop will be available to all target groups from July 29, 2025. Centralized access not only simplifies the ordering process, but also improves product support and usage.

To simplify the procurement processes in the area of software, the IT Center has been operating the RWTH Software Shop in cooperation with asknet Solutions AG for years.
asknet Solutions AG is currently in self-administered insolvency proceedings. RWTH has therefore decided to terminate the current contract in the first quarter of 2024, on March 25, 2024.
In this context, an alternative provider for a new software store is required. This needs a thorough specification of the desired functions and requirements with a corresponding invitation to tender in order to ensure sustainable operation. Due to the short-term nature of the events, the IT Center will offer an interim solution with the most important functionalities for the transition period during the procurement of a new system.
On March 26, 2024, the interim solution AcadCloud from SoftwareOne will be launched with limited functions. Read below to find out exactly what this means.
Introduction of Adobe SeviRe

From now on, Adobe can be found in the Selfsevice of Virtual Resources (SeviRe). RWTH employees who have the role of „IT-purchaser” now have the option to manage licenses for Adobe there.

New Hardware Shop of the NRW Universities

Recently, the hardware shop of the NRW universities (alsterarbeit gGmbH) has been available in a new design under a new web address.
Via the shop, institutions can purchase desktop and micro PCs as well as mobile workstations and laptops from Dell at the currently applicable terms and conditions of the framework agreement.
