Castro: Auralization Techniques for Moving Listeners in Coupled Space

Juni 27 @ 11:00 - 12:00

Acoustic virtual reality (AVR) is a helpful tool that it is being used for different purposes. In architecture the use of AVR has been very advantageous for room acoustic simulation in different environments. In this work, the potential to simulate walking paths across connected rooms using AVR is analyzed, this research considers Johannes church in Bochum as a study case. For the simulation method of coupled spaces, an acoustic portal is used and a simulation approach is presented, the results are then compared with real measurements using some room acoustic parameters, this in order to quantify the differences of the method with respect to reality. In the subjective part, the simulation results are also compared with the measurements through a listening experiment that contrasts some psychoacoustic parameters. With this portal approach, a walking path simulation using First Order Ambisonics is calculated, which together with the build of a visual model, a 360°-video with user-controlled camera is created.
