The Family Services Team of the RWTH Gender Equal Opportunities Office (GSB) is once again offering a summer vacation recreation program this year. Camps for children are offered during the first three weeks and the last week of summer vacation. To guarantee that the vacation camps will actually be taking place even though the pandemic is still not contained and to ensure everyone’s safety at the same time, the Family Service has decided to reduce group sizes and make a negative Coronavirus test a prerequisite for participation.
In planning these camps, the Family Services team works closely with both the Youth Welfare Office Aachen and the Family Service Office of Uniklinik RWTH Aachen.
Children will have to present a negative COVID test on their first day at camp and on the following Wednesday to participate. This test can either be a self-test taken at home with the help of their parents or a rapid test taken at an official test center. Family Services is happy to provide families with the self-tests, and parents can pick them up at the Family Services Center starting the week before summer vacation. Everyone – staff and children – will still be required to wear masks while at camp.
Please note that all of these measures will continuously be reevaluated and adapted to the pandemic situation. Therefore, changes may have to be made at short notice. Keeping all participants healthy and safe is paramount and the top priority under the current circumstances is that the vacation camps can be carried out safely in the long term.
