Vaccination Program Expanded

June 16th, 2021 | by

In consultation with the University Medical Center, it has been decided to extend the offer for vaccination to all university members born on or before December 31, 1990. Anyone from the previously invited age groups will, of course, still be eligible to book an appointment. The booking portal, which can be found at this link, will open for the new age group from 8 am on Thursday June 17, 2021. You still need your personnel number to book an appointment. If you do not know it, you can find it in the RWTH Selfservice under RWTH Data. In addition, the responsible HR department will be happy to help you.

Please also note the following information from the University Medical Center:

  • Due to the still existing vaccine shortage, everyone must adhere to the six-week interval between the two vaccinations. It is not possible to deviate from scheduled appointments for personal reasons.
  • Individuals who have already received a first vaccination at another facility (vaccination center, family practice, etc.) cannot book their second vaccination through the University Medical Center.

The Crisis Management Team will inform RWTH members as soon as younger cohorts are eligible to book a vaccination appointment.

Reopening the University

June 11th, 2021 | by

Due to the positive developments regarding the rates of infection and the resulting new legal framework, the Rectorate, the Crisis Management Team and the chairpersons of the examination boards, the deans of academic affairs, and the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Learning have developed a concept for reopening the University in some areas.

This concept includes general conditions for courses and exams but also for cultural events. It can be downloaded here: Concept for Reopening the University

Currently, the relevant guidelines on teaching and learning are being adapted accordingly. As soon as they are available, we will notify you again.

For the areas of research and regular university operations, we still have to wait for federal regulations for the period after July 1. We expect to implement the next steps in slowly reopening RWTH after that.

Since many reopening steps depend on the rates of infection in both Aachen Städteregion and NRW, the regulations in effect for the incidence levels on a given day must be observed. Please refer to the following website to find the latest information: Regulations for Courses and Exams Depending on Incidence Levels

Expansion of the Vaccination Offer

June 11th, 2021 | by

Due to current demand, it has been decided in consultation with the University Medical Center to extend the vaccination offer to all university members born before December 31, 1980. People in the age groups already invited to book an appointment will, of course, still be eligible to book.

The booking portal will be open for the new age group from Monday, June 14, 2021, 8 am. You still need your personnel number to book an appointment. If you do not know it, you can find it in the RWTH Selfservice under RWTH Data. In addition, the responsible HR department will be happy to help you.

The Crisis Management Team will inform you at short notice as soon as individuals of younger cohorts are eligible to book a vaccination appointment.

Important Information on Compulsory Testing for Courses and Exams

June 10th, 2021 | by

In light of the positive trend regarding the rates of infection, the testing requirement for courses and exam sessions will be dropped from Friday, June 11, 2021. Participation in internships and exams is thus no longer tied to a negative test or other exemptions. Also, the central study spaces can now be used without a negative test or other exemptions.

For excursions and internships, the supervising University institutions will continue to offer participants daily self-tests free of charge. This self-test provision also continues to apply for employees.

The Crisis Management Team kindly requests that you make good use of these offers.

Expansion of the Age Group Eligible for a Vaccine Appointment

June 7th, 2021 | by

Due to current demand, it has been decided in consultation with the University Medical Center to extend the vaccination offer to all university members born before December 31, 1970. People in the first age group will, of course, still be eligible to book.

The booking portal, which you can find under this link, will be open for the new age group from Tuesday, June 8, 2021, 12 noon. A personnel number is required to book an appointment. If this is not known, it can be found in the RWTH Selfservice under RWTH Data. In addition, the responsible HR department will be happy to help.

The Crisis Management Team will issue an announcement at short notice as soon as individuals of younger cohorts are eligible to book a vaccination appointment.

Notes on Excursions and Study Spaces

June 7th, 2021 | by

The Crisis Management Team and the Rectorate have decided on the following measures based on the new state regulations and the decline in the rate of infection in Städteregion Aachen:

Please note that to comply with state law, individuals may currently only participate in excursions that include activities indoors or use study spaces if they can present a current negative test.

Vaccination Service Starts June 8

June 6th, 2021 | by

The University Medical Center will start to offer vaccinations using mRNA-based vaccines on June 8. Further information about the vaccination service and answers to general questions about COVID-19 vaccination are available at: FAQ About Vaccinations.

Given the amount of vaccine doses expected to be available, all university members born before December 31, 1960 (61-year-old and older individuals) are now eligible to book a vaccination appointment.

The online portal for booking vaccination appointments will be open for bookings from 12 noon on Friday, June 7, 2021. Please note that you will have to provide your personnel number when booking an appointment. If you do not know your personnel number, you can find it on the RWTH Selfservice Portal (see “RWTH Data” tab, “RWTH employee number”). Alternatively, the relevant divisions of the HR Department are happy to help.

We expect that the booking portal will be accessed by a large number of users, especially at the beginning of the vaccination service. This will result in a large load on the associated infrastructure. For this reason, the Crisis Management Team would urgently ask you to visit the booking portal only if you belong to the group of individuals who are currently eligible to book an appointment.

The Crisis Management Team will notify you as soon as other age cohorts become eligible to book a vaccination appointment.
