In April 2022, the RDM team will start a new training format on research data management “FDM II-modular”, offering you two-hour hands-on workshops on focus topics of research data management. The workshops will take place regularly on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 10am to 12 noon.

The further education courses on RDM are aimed at all employees of RWTH Aachen University, with a focus on researchers at all career levels.

Entry-level courses that do not require any prior knowledge of FDM are entitled FDM I. The content is offered as self-study courses in RWTHm. The contents are prepared as self-study courses in RWTHmoodle in German and English:

The continuing RDM II events offer the opportunity to deepen the contents of RDM I by means of practical exercises and collegial exchange as well as to reflect on and, if necessary, optimise one’s own working methods. This can take place in the eight-hour “Workshop on Research Data Management (RDM II-compact)” (registration for doctoral students/registration for postdocs) or in the new series of two-hour thematic workshops “RDM II-modular”.

More in-depth courses on Git & GitLab are available as e-learning offerings “Introduction to version management with Git and GitLab“, “Git Scavenger Hunt – a scavenger hunt with Git” and “WordGuess – a collaborative game with Git and GitLab” in RWTHmoodle.

RDM II-modular

With “RDM II-modular”, the RDM team would like to offer you an extension of the range of topics, more flexibility and even more room for live demos, hands-on exercises and practical examples. You can attend the modules independently of each other, depending on your interests, as they do not build on each other. Only the contents of RDM I are required.

The following topics are already fixed:

  • 27/04/2022 | 10:00am-12:00 noon: Data Management Plan Writing Workshop (registration for doctoral students / registration for postdocs).
  • 25/05/2022 | 10:00am -12:00 noon: FAIR Data through Publication (save the date)
  • 22/06/2022 | 10:00am-12:00 noon: Research Data Management in DFG Proposals – What Research Funders Expect (save the date)
