The IT Center was once again part of this year’s Welcome Week for the winter semester 2023/2024 at RWTH Aachen University! Especially international students have the opportunity to get acquainted with the services and processes of RWTH Aachen University.
Unlike previous events, this time there was no live digital lecture on our IT services. But don’t worry, there was still a video. The Welcome Week team changed the concept and adapted it to your wishes. In addition, we were live on site at the Freshers’ Fair in the Audimax on September 27, 2023, and were on hand to offer advice and support to new students.
In the following blog post, we will tell you about the Freshers’ Fair, the newly designed information video about our IT services, and also give you some help for a successful semester.
“Making Use of IT Services” – A New Informational Video
The years before, presentations were held either live on site or, until recently, live in digital form via Zoom. The aim was to present our IT services. The digital presentation was recorded and made available to latecomers on the corresponding website.
The Welcome Week team restructured this type of informational video. Instead, our colleague Jelena Nikolić made a video with the help of the central service institution Media for Learning, which was published on the website Fit for RWTH, along with other information videos. So, if you need explanations about our IT services, feel free to check out Fit for RWTH. Please note, however, that the presentation was given entirely in English.
Freshers’ Fair – Live at the Event
On September 27, 2023, things got serious: The Freshers’ Fair was coming up. This year’s live event as part of Welcome Week took place in the foyer of the Audimax. There, the central institutions as well as student representatives and other service providers who can support international students during their stay at RWTH and in Germany presented themselves. The goal: the best possible and quickest integration into student life and the city of Aachen.
Our apprentices Riza Askar, Yasin Kalem and Daniel Malenkovic were at the IT Center booth and answered your questions. Especially the topics about identity management like coupon code and passwords were in great demand. In addition, many people asked how they can use the Wifi eduroam and which software can be obtained from the RWTH.
