In parallel programming with supercomputers such as CLAIX, the so-called Message Passing Interface has been used for over 30 years for efficient communication between processes. Programming errors in MPI communication can lead to typical problems in software development such as deadlocks, data races or type errors – especially due to parallelized execution. However, such errors are often difficult for the developer to find, especially if an error occurs non-deterministically, i.e., only sporadically.
What Is Typosquatting?

The internet offers many opportunities – but also risks. One of the lesser known but potentially very dangerous threats in the field of cyber security is typosquatting. But what does this term actually mean? Typosquatting refers to a technique in which attackers attempt to redirect users to fake or unwanted websites. This is usually done by exploiting typos or similar domain names of well-known websites. Instead of the actual website, you end up on a page that looks deceptively similar to the real one or contains completely different, sometimes malicious content.

Replacement of the Partner Procedure

In recent years, the RWTH partner procedure has helped external persons with tasks at RWTH to gain access to RWTH’s IT services.
This process is now being changed: The partner procedure is being replaced by the role “Angehörige Organisationseinheit”. Like all other roles, this role is assigned by the role administrators of the individual chairs, institutes, and facilities.
The Partner Manager associated with the Partner Procedure will be deactivated on September 1, 2025. All coupons and authorizations issued by the Partner Manager will also expire on this date at the latest.
The good news?
You can now make the switch without any hassle. Find out how in the text.

RWTH, May We Introduce: git.nrw
A new service is now available to employees and students in pilot operation: git.nrw!
The associated git.nrw project was launched to provide a central platform to facilitate the exchange of code and ideas between developers, students, and teachers. The aim of the project is to provide a shared central GitLab instance for all universities in North Rhine-Westphalia to facilitate cross-institutional work.
The technical requirements have now been met to gradually open up the instance. RWTH is one of the first universities in North Rhine-Westphalia to be allowed to use the platform. Other universities will be connected step by step.
Find out what the git.nrw service can do and how you can use it for your everyday tasks in the blog post.
