Making Video Conferences more efficient – Tools for Online Meetings

For more than two years now, our (working) lives have been turned upside down and we have to face special challenges. Due to the pandemic, we are required to comply with distance rules, in addition to many other regulations. For many, this means switching to situational mobile home work or home offices. To still stay in touch with colleagues and keep meetings going, video conferencing tools are worth their weight in gold. New Design and new Features – the new Chat

Since 2015, in addition to phone and personal support, the IT Center’s Service & Communication department has also been providing chat support. By using this service, you can get in touch with the IT Center’s support team quickly and easily.

By now, our chat support has become indispensable. No matter whether you have questions about RWTHonline and RWTHmoodle, are surfing the IT Center website or visiting our IT Center Help documentation portal, you can send us your questions with just one click on the Chat Support button at the bottom of the screen. Many of your concerns can already be solved quickly and conveniently via this channel. Due to the increased number of enquiries, our availability via Chat Support was extended in March 2020. As of this date, you can reach us via chat from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.. In addition, the chat support has now also been connected to our omnichannel system.

Kick-Off: Federated Identity Management.nrw

On February 17, 2022, the consortium of the DH.NRW project Federated Identity Management.nrw (IDM.nrw) conducted the virtual, state-wide kick-off. The aim of the kick-off was to communicate the project goal and at the same time to arouse interest. Participants included experts from the field of identity management as well as interested colleagues from universities in NRW and other related institutions, such as participants from KDU.nrw and DH.NRW.

Reopening of the IT-ServiceDesk at SuperC and the Printing Service at Seffenter Weg 23

Soon back on site for you! The IT-ServiceDesk in SuperC and the printing service in Seffenter Weg 23 will open for personal contact.

May 02, 2022 is the day: The IT Center’s IT-ServiceDesk takes a big step toward normality. Both the SuperC support location and the printing service will reopen for personal contact. While the opening is subject to the appropriate conditions and hygiene measures for your and our protection and to counter the spread of the Corona pandemic, it will finally be possible to print posters, posters and co. at the IT Center, Seffenter Weg 23, and pick them up in person again starting next Monday, May 02, 2022. Consultation at the IT-ServiceDesk in the SuperC will also resume. Please note tha we are also part of the RWTH initiative “We keep wearing masks”.

Cable Tray Conversion – Turmstraße Construction Site

Starting May 2, 2022, the construction site for the major demolition and new construction of the Turmstraße bridge will begin and is expected to be completed in December 2023. The bridge has exhibited significant damage since 2013 and is continuously deteriorating. Due to a performance audit commissioned by the city of Aachen and an expert opinion, these damages cannot be rehabilitated. Therefore, the city of Aachen has decided to first demolish the bridge and then rebuild it. IT-SAD: IT-Security Awareness Days 2022

From the 2nd to the 19th of May 2022, the IT Security Awareness Days will take place for the third time. During these three weeks, a total of 17 online lectures will be held on the topic of IT security (only conducted in the German language). The lectures will be organised by various universities.

So far, the TU Braunschweig, TU Dresden, KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Uni Göttingen/GWDG, Uni Osnabrück, Uni Duisburg-Essen and the Uni Köln are actively involved. Read the rest of this entry »

New E-Mail Lifecycle Started – What you Should Know!
