Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Talk-Through (TT) modes are common features in modern headsets. ANC typically provides enough attenuation that background noise becomes difficult to characterise. In this internship, several warning signals, such as passing cars and shouted speech, were recorded and used as background noise, and multiple headsets with ANC and TT were evaluated using these signals to determine whether recent headsets completely distort the signals or leave enough of a recognisable “footprint” for the user to identify them.
