In the context of the auralization of acoustic scenes in outdoor scenarios, the effects of the atmosphere on sound propagation are of crucial importance. Ray tracing is a common method for tracking paths between sources and receivers and can be used to compute atmospheric transfer functions when the height-dependent physical properties of the atmosphere are known. Based on weather data from measurements, atmospheric properties in stratified media are evaluated by statistical analysis and their influence on atmospheric transfer functions is studied.
