Important Information About COVID-19 Booster Vaccinations | Vaccination Offers

November 22nd, 2021 | by

The Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO) has updated its recommendations on COVID-19 vaccination.

The STIKO now recommends that individuals aged 18 years and older get a booster vaccination with an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. As a rule, the booster vaccination should be administered 6 months after completing the primary series of vaccinations. Individuals who have been vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are recommended to receive the booster vaccination as early as 4 weeks after primary immunization.

University Management, the Crisis Management Team, and the University Medical Center strongly recommend that all members of RWTH get a booster vaccination at the recommended interval. Individuals who have not yet been vaccinated are urged to take up a vaccination offer as soon as possible!

Since the University Medical Center has to prioritize the staff at Uniklinik RWTH Aachen with booster vaccinations, COVID vaccine boosters will initially be offered exclusively to all employees and students born before December 31, 1981.

The booking portal, which you can find at https://ecampus.rwth-aachen.de/units/hsa, is open with immediate effect. Employees need their personnel number to book an appointment, while students need their student ID number. If you do not know it, you can find it in the RWTH Selfservice under RWTH Data.

Please contact

  • the University Medical Center regarding any medical questions,
  • the IT Service Desk if you have any technical issues,
  • the relevant HR department if you have any questions about your personnel number, and
  • the Registrar’s Office if you have any questions about your student ID number.

Please note the following important guidelines:

  • Please bring the necessary documentation of your COVID-19 vaccination status (primary immunization series) to your vaccination appointment. This is required for the University Medical Center to give appropriate medical advice.
  • If you are unable to keep your appointment or have already made an appointment elsewhere, please send the University Medical Center an email at coronaimpfung@hsa.rwth-aachen.de immediately. Please do not make multiple bookings under any circumstances.
  • The University Medical Center will add new appointment slots on a regular basis. If there are currently no appointments available to book, please check back on a regular basis.

In addition to the vaccinations offered by the University Medical Center, I would like to draw your attention to the following information web pages on vaccination services in the area:

Please note that the Vaccination Bus will continue to stop in front of the RWTH Main Building on Fridays from 12noon to 7:30pm. Here you can get vaccinated without prior appointment.
