RWTHmoodle: Help, My Study Rooms Have Suddenly Disappeared!

We often receive enquiries from students at the beginning of the semester because their current study rooms no longer appear in RWTHmoodle despite successful registration. There are two reasons for this, which we would now like to explain to you in more detail.

Reason 1: Exmatriculation

The de-registration run is not a sporting event, but a process at the beginning of each semester in which all students who have not paid their tuition fees on time, for example, are de-registered. As a result, students lose their status and also their access to services that require an active status (e.g. Eduroam or VPN). Although they can still access RWTHonline, they have been deregistered from all courses. As a result, the affected persons also lose access to the learning rooms of the current semester, i.e. the learning rooms for the corresponding courses are no longer visible in RWTHmoodle.

Reason 2: Change of Degree Programme in the Current Semester

If you change from a Bachelor’s to a Master’s degree programme during the current semester, you may also lose your status for a short time and be deregistered from the courses you were previously registered for. Even then, you will no longer be able to see the learning rooms of the current semester in the course overview in RWTHmoodle.

So, What Should You Do?

If reason 1 applies to you:
To regain student status, contact the Registrar’s Office and clarify the outstanding payment of your tuition fees. Once the payment has been received, you will be enrolled again, and you will have student status at RWTH again.

You can now register for courses again. If the deadline has passed, it is best to contact the respective faculty directly or use the support form in RWTHonline. Be sure to include the respective course number (LV number) and the title. By the way, you can recognise which faculty the course belongs to by the first number. For example, if the course number starts with a 1, the course is from Faculty 1, i.e. the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences.

Please note: It may take until the following day after registration until you see the corresponding learning rooms in RWTHmoodle.

If reason 2 applies to you, proceed as in point 2 and register for the courses again via RWTHonline. Again, if this is no longer possible because the registration deadline has passed, please contact either the respective faculty directly or us.
