The Best Snacks for Work at Home

Whether at work at home or in the office – sometimes snacks can be little saviours. Either when you are caught up by an afternoon sleepiness or when you have so much on your plate that your head starts spinning.

Right then it is easy to be led into temptation to reach for chocolate or cookies. At work, you either have something for the small appetite in between or, if you have the opportunity, you can go to the bakery next door or to the cafeteria. What makes the whole situation a bit trickier, is working from home.

Dynamic sitting at work is an important tool that can help us promote our back health and prevent problems.

When sitting dynamically, we should make sure to constantly shift our weight and change our sitting position. Therefore, if we constantly adopt different sitting positions, we will improve our spinal support muscles on the one hand, and on the other hand, the movement will provide our intervertebral discs with nutrients. Thus, we have the opportunity to prevent unnecessary back pain. At the same time, we can avoid muscular imbalances that occur when muscles atrophy, weaken and ultimately shorten due to one-sided strain.

All good things come in … “two”! Since our last year’s Christmas party unfortunately had to be cancelled, the already planned and thought-out celebration – our own IT Center Christmas market – was made up for and celebrated on 9 December this year. After all, postponed is not abandoned! The IT Center’s party team was full of beans and organised a wonderful party that lacked nothing. The pre-Christmas season was ushered in with the smell of mulled wine and waffles and musical support from a large part of the IT Center staff.

Threat Hunting – Tracking Down Threats

After sneaking into a network, attackers can remain undetected for months, collecting data, searching for sensitive material, or acquiring credentials. They can then use this information to roam around the IT infrastructure, to observe it and to snatch even more data. The more data is tapped, the more severe the consequences of the attack may be. New SSID – RWTH institutes – in the WLAN

RWTH Aachen University offers wireless data communication (via WLAN) to all WLAN enabled devices throughout the university. This WLAN service is offered by WLAN access points.

These access points broadcast one or more SSID’s, which the devices can connect with and thus get internet access. The term SSID stands for Service Set Identifier and is simply the name of a WLAN network. RWTH offers many SSID’s such as:

  • eduroam for students, employees and guests of participating institutes
  • RWTH-guests for quests without an eduroam identification
  • RWTH-devices for IoT devices, e.g. measuring instruments and sensors
