Eight NFDI consortia with RWTH participation are funded by the DFG!

We celebrate the approval of funding for eight consortia with RWTH participation!

As recently announced by the Joint Science Conference (GWK), a total of ten consortia will be funded. Eight of them have RWTH participation. The funding decision was science-led by the GWK.

The people behind RWTHjupyter – a developer interview

At the beginning of the year, we announced that the RWTHjupyter service had entered the pilot phase. The goal is to ensure a stable process in the subsequent regular operation by building up experience, taking over operations and setting up support structures.

But have you ever wondered who are the people behind RWTHjupyter that have made it this far?

Today we introduce you to one of the developers: Steffen Vogel works as a research associate at the Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems (ACS) and has been there from the beginning. We were allowed to interview him about the development of RWTHjupyter.

Many countries, many languages – one EC! The IT Center EM 2021 Riddle VI

After several overtimes, surprising results and the farewell of our national coach Jogi Löw, the quarter-final opponents are now known, and the final is already within reach.

Even though the German team was already eliminated from the tournament on Tuesday, we are still looking forward to the exciting matches in the quarter-finals today and tomorrow!

Digital Summer Party 2021

The IT Center did not let itself be deprived of the annual and popular summer party, even in spite of the home office!  So, on June 25, in a relaxed atmosphere, a social gathering was also made possible digitally.

The party team of the IT Center opened the summer party with a few words about the schedule. Professor Müller also took the opportunity to welcome all employees and to thank the party team.

Time to say goodbye, L2P!

The time has come: After 14 years, it is with a heavy heart that we say our final goodbyes to L2P.

Until 2019, L2P was the central teaching and learning platform at RWTH Aachen University. In the course of “Digitalization Strategy for Teaching” it was decided to switch to Moodle as an open source software. After a successful test and pilot phase, RWTHmoodle was implemented into university-wide operation in the summer semester 2019 and since then L2P has only served as an archive. FAIR Data Spaces – Establishing a shared cloud-based data space for business and science

Together with the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) e.V., Atos Information Technology GmbH and with various NFDI consortia, the cloud-based data space “FAIR Data Space” for business and science is being created and built.

Pling! Did you hear that?

Pling! A notification. Pling! And again, a notification. Whether it’s Whatsapp, Facebook or Snapchat, we receive notifications about the latest events from all sorts of platforms throughout the day. Assuming we haven’t turned them off. But not only the social media channels provide us with the latest announcements, also RWTHmoodle can and sends automatic notifications.

Often these are then not urgent, not relevant or not even meant for you in the first place, because a heated discussion is just taking place in a group chat. And also at RWTHmoodle we are often asked if it is possible to turn off notifications that are not of interest to oneself. Since this was not easily possible until now, we have listened to your feedback and made a few adjustments.
