Changeover Within the GitLab Login Process

On May 3, 2023, the login process for our GitLab instances (git.rwth-aachen.de and git-ce.rwth-aachen.de) will be updated as part of a necessary maintenance.

However, in order to be able to log in to the GitLab instances of the RWTH after the maintenance, the primary e-mail address stored in GitLab must match the contact e-mail address in the Identity Management of the RWTH. Otherwise, if the e-mail addresses are different, you may get a login error after the system changeover.

FAIR-Data Spaces – How does locally stored data get into the cloud-based data space?

On our FDM blog, we recently shared news about Gaia-X and FAIR-Data Spaces. FAIR-Data Spaces is a cloud-based data space for science and business, made possible and developed with the help of collaboration between Gaia-X and the NFDI.

The project

  • designs the roadmap for collaboration between the two initiatives,
  • clarifies ethical and legal frameworks for data exchange between science and industry,
  • develops common technical principles
  • and demonstrates the use of Gaia-X technologies for making research data available and usable along FAIR principles in different scientific disciplines and industries.

But how does local data get into the cloud-based data space? To show this data space from a user perspective, we would like to explain the process steps and the technical background in more detail.

GitLab at the RWTH? No problem. With two instances and in compliance with the license terms, you can create versioned software projects.

GitLab is a version management system that allows you to version software and web projects. Developers can store and document versions of their code here. You can then organize, host, and manage them in digital archives. This is why GitLab is often referred to as a Version Control System, or VCS for short.
