ENSIMA: One Year Towards Green Simulation

The three-year ENSIMA project (energy-efficient simulation methods for application-oriented computing problems), part of the BMBF’s “Energy-efficient HPS (Green HPC)” program, was launched almost a year ago. The aim of this project is to use AI methods to improve the selection of design parameters in production processes and to accelerate simulation processes through approximate and heterogeneous computing. Due to the growing digitalization in the private and professional environment, the risk of cyberattacks and phishing attacks is also constantly increasing. Universities are also becoming an increasingly frequent target of such attacks. This is why IT security is a key issue at RWTH Aachen University.

On February 1, 2024, multifactor-authentication (MFA) will be introduced for the VPN service at RWTH. This will significantly improve the protection of the IT services you use. The following blog post will explain what you need to do now.

IT-Zauber: Efficient Data Centres

The IT-Zauber project, funded by the BMBF as part of the nine joint research projects of the GreenHPC program, aims to improve the efficiency and sustainability of data centres through digital twins. These digital images enable a holistic view of data centres by encompassing the entire operation including the computer load as well as the power supply and cooling infrastructure.
