Company Excursion 2025 – A Complete Success Despite the Rain!

Rain in the morning, sun in the afternoon, and good spirits all day long: That’s probably the best way to sum up this year’s IT Center company excursion. On May 28, 2025, it was time for employees to get out of the office and into adventure! Once again, the day was all about team spirit, variety, and fun with a colorful program of knowledge, nature, water activities, and cozy get-togethers. More on our previous company excursions can be found in our blog entries.
Despite the less than inviting weather in the morning, no one let it spoil the mood. And as is so often the case, perseverance was rewarded: as the day progressed, the sky cleared and the sun came out just in time for the joint finale in the afternoon.

Safety and Health at Work

April 28, 2025, marked World Day for Safety and Health at Work – a global day of action that reminds millions of people every year of the importance of safe and healthy working conditions. This day was established by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and has become an important platform for awareness-raising, dialogue and political impetus. We at the IT Center would also like to use this day to draw attention to current developments, opportunities and challenges in the field of occupational health and safety – and also to focus on our own health promotion services.

Stress in everyday working or studying life has many faces. We usually think of overflowing inboxes, tight deadlines, or technical problems that make the day difficult. What is often forgotten is that the environment in which we work or study also has a major impact on our concentration and well-being. One of the most overlooked factors is noise.
Whether in the office, at home, or in the library, constant background noise challenges our brains and reduces productivity. On International Noise Awareness Day on April 30, it is therefore particularly worthwhile to take a closer look. Basics at RWTH: Using the VPN

At RWTH Aachen University, the Virtual Private Network (VPN) provides an important and secure connection to the university network. This connection is secured by encryption protocols such as TLS. VPN ensures that all data traffic – either to the RWTH network or, depending on the configuration, also to the Internet – is routed via a so-called “tunnel”. This tunnel protects the data on its way between your end device and the VPN server, where it is then integrated into the RWTH network. In the “Full Tunnel”, for example, requests from your device for external services appear with an IP address of RWTH Aachen University.
