New Look in the TK-Portal
With the change to the new Cisco telephone system as part of the network upgrade, a shift is taking place. In the old Alcatel Lucent telephone system, call numbers were tied to telephones. In the new Cisco telephone system, on the other hand, telephone numbers are assigned to persons. DivA – Submission of Final Theses

The application “Submission of Final final Theses” (DivA) is a project of the PDSL department (Process Suppport and Digitization of Studies and Teaching) of the IT Center in cooperation with the Central University Administration. The application is being developed with the aim of providing students, examiners, and not least the Central Examination Office (ZPA) with an accessible and intuitive way to facilitate the submission of theses.
WiFi News – Part 1: New Certificate for the RADIUS Server

For the expiration of the server certificate of our authentication server radius.rz.rwth-aachen.de the certificate on the system will be exchanged on May 23, 2023. This has already been announced in the status message portal.
You will be affected by these changes the next time you log in to eduroam. What you have to do to continue using the WiFi, we explain in the following blog post.
ADAM – Active Directory Campaign
The “Managed Service Active Directory” service has been officially discontinued by the end of 2023.

There were several reasons for discontinuing this managed service. Among other things, the additional costs for the users, the high administrative maintenance effort and the insufficient scalability contributed to this decision.
Howevery, the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University already offers its facilities a far more advantageous alternative: the Active Directory for Workplace Management (ADAM for short).
After a three year project and pilot phase, during which the web interface and a security concept were designed, the managed service has now been introduced.
MATSE Trainee Wins 2nd Place at GermEval Contest
Trainees bring a breath of fresh air to companies and often surprise with remarkable achievements. A notable example is Patrick Gustav Blaneck, a former MATSE trainee at the IT Center, who won the second place at the GermEval 2022 contest.
We as an employer think that it’s important to recognize and highlight the achievements of our employees. For that reason, we spoke with Patrick about his work, the experience he gained along the way, and his plans for the future.
The Print Service Portal is Online!

Now it’s even easier to plot high-quality large-format printouts on a variety of materials
In the IT Center, high-quality printing devices are available for printouts by employees of the facilities, affiliated institutes and student organizations of the RWTH Aachen University as well as the University Hospital. We print on roll paper and then cut the printouts to size so that any format is available, limited only by the roll width.
To optimize the print service, a new portal is now available for print processing. The portal, which was designed and programmed by MATSE trainees from the department Process Support and Digitization Study & Teaching (PDSL) as part of their major programming work in cooperation with the print service, now makes processes much more transparent and easier. It also significantly improves usability and user experience.
Company Excursion 2023 in Landgraaf
After a long break last fall, the IT Center employees were once again able to take part in a company excursion in 2022. Once again this year, we were looking forward to a day full of fun excursions.
The meeting point was the IT Center at 8:45 am. A bus was available to take the participants to the various activities. Of course, there was also the possibility to organize the journey by oneself. Whether by car or by bicycle, many good-humored interdepartmental communities were already formed on the way to the event.
From CAS Campus Export to RWTHcontacts Export

As we have already reported, the organization and person directory of the campus management system “CAS Campus” (“Web Phone Book”) is being replaced by the new service RWTHcontacts.
Now the project is proceeding into the next phase: the data from RWTHcontacts must now successively replace the old CAMPUS data in all digital processes.

Participation in the Conception Phase of the DKZ.2R
Together with the Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ), the IT Center is participating in the conception phase of the Data Competence Center for the Rhine-Ruhr region, DKZ.2R for short. 22 projects were selected by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from a total of 74 applications to participate in the conception phase.
